Boisko Salt Mine, Bochnia

Boisko

The Ważyn Chamber is the largest chamber in the Bochnia mine; it is located on the 'Sienkiewicz' level. It is 280 m long and approx. 12 m wide. Exploitation of the chamber was active from 1697 to the 1950s. In the chamber's ceiling is the 18th-century shaft 'Ernest'; in the northern wall, the outlet of the 'Ważyn' shaft; in the southern wall is the entrance to the 17th-century Mann crossing, where very well-preserved traces of manual exploitation are visible.
