Klasztor Bernarydynów w Kalwarii Zebrzydowskiej, z dwoma wieżami po bokach, przed nim plac i turyści

Through the territory of Małopolska, numerous religious and pilgrimage routes are running. Among those with the oldest traditions we may include the St. Jacob’s Route, whose history dates back to the middle ages. It is walked along by the faithful going to the grave of St. Jacob in Santiago de Compostela in Spain. In Małopolska, there is the section of the St. Jacob’s Road from Korczowa via Krakow to Zgorzelec, marked up on the basis of the trade route via Regia; Małopolska St. Jacob’s Road from Sandomierz via Krakow to Bielany/Kęty and Beskid St. Jacob’s Road from Wadowice via Szczyrk to Cieszyn. The Marian Route links the Austrian sanctuary of Mariazell with Jasna Góra. It leads from the border with Slovakia, via Zakopane and Kalwaria Zebrzydowska to Częstochowa. There are also the routes associated with the activities of religious orders - the Cistercian Route functioning within the framework of the European Cultural Route of the Council of Europe and the Małopolska Route of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre. In Krakow, the section of the European Cultural Route of the Council of Europe is marked up – the Cemetery Route which includes the necropolis in Podgórze. The religious routes are: In the Footsteps of John Paul II, St. Sister Faustina’s Route, St. Stanislaus’ Route and Krakow Route of Saints. It is also worth to pay attention to the St. Simon’s Route in Lipnica Murowana.
